William Hayes is a guitarist and composer based in New York City. He performs as a solo artist, creates music and sound design for film, dance, theater and contributes to wide range of projects as a guitarist and improviser. He played guitars on late composer Jóhann Jóhannsson’s score to Panos Cosmatos' psychedelic horror film Mandy (2018); folk/black metal artist Myrkur's album Mareridt (2017, Relapse Records), winner Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for 2018 Album of the Year; collaborated with Seattle band Newaxeyes on several projects including debut LP Black Fax (2018, Important Records); and with Research (members of Rose Windows, Charms, Midday Veil, Terminator) on their upcoming debut album. He has worked with Randall Dunn, Wayne Horvitz, Hanna Benn, Nat Evans; filmmakers Jacob Rosen, Jessa Carter; choreographers Kate Wallich, Babette Pendleton; and has toured internationally as keyboardist for Wolves in the Throne Room, and live guitarist for Kate Wallich’s Industrial Ballet.  William received a Bachelor of Music in classical composition from Cornish College of the Arts in 2013, where he studied under composers Wayne Horvitz and Jarrad Powell
